If you have been following my blog for some time, you will know that when we received L's ASD diagnosis, we struggled to find support when we began on this journey. I began this blog to let other families and individuals know that support is out there. I didn't want to see children, or adults, being left behind because they're different or quirky or don't fit into the mould that they're expected to fit into.
Over the past few years, I have found that more and more families and individuals are reaching out for support.
I began Disability Support Your Way this year after being asked advice on everything from the NDIS, to accessing support providers to questions about our Assistance Dogs – we have two - and everything in between!
Disability Support Your Way is exactly what the name sounds like – support your way.
We are a disability support and advocacy service done your way. We have lived experience with multiple disabilities, and understand the challenges and barriers that many disabled individuals face on a daily basis.
We work by these core principles:
Dignity - We will listen to and respect your voice. We are committed to having open, honest and respectful communication with our clients.
Reliability - We will provide reliable and quality support, your way. We work with our clients to access support services within their communities.
We will gather information on support and therapy providers on behalf of our clients.
We hold a current Queensland Working With Children card (Blue Card) and a current NDIS Worker Screening Card.
If you would like to find out more information on what our service provides, please reach out.
